Apex Phantom began as an extension of the idea behind Shoaling Chandelier: a school of individually suspended fish moving together to give the impression of an apex predator. Without time to realize the suspended version, the piece became something different — the skin of an orca, formed by welding approximately 500 individual fish into a mesh-like surface using nearly 1,000 forks. It was built to stop a room. It did.
